The Fundamentals

Every system is born from a way of thinking.

Lesson 1 of 3

The philosophy and track record of Dafna

Every system is born from a way of thinking. Before learning what the formulas contain or how the system works, you need to understand the foundation upon which all of this was built and why it matters.

I didn't start with a brand. I started with a question: why did the cosmetic industry continue to treat skin as if it existed in isolation from the person inhabiting it?

A way of thinking that the industry didn't have

Years of training in Psychology, clinical aromatherapy, herbalism, and nutrition had taught us that nothing works in isolation. We applied the same logic to the skin, and the result was Dafna's Personal Skincare.

Our background is not that of conventional cosmetics. Before formulating our first product, we spent years in territories the industry was not accustomed to crossing. That intersection is what makes every formula think differently.

Psychology

Understanding the person as a system, rather than a collection of symptoms. It was the first framework that taught us to read the internal state before what is visible on the skin.

Clinical aromatherapy and herbalism

Not as a trend, but as a real therapeutic system. The essential oils in our formulas have a concrete biological function: neuromodulation, barrier, and cell signaling.

Nourishment

Skin is also a consequence of what is internal. Nutrition provided the systemic perspective that is largely missing from cosmetic formulation, as well as the insight to understand the night as a key moment for regeneration.

Product formulation and design

Three years of training in formulation chemistry and product design in the UK: which actives enhance each other and what determines chemical stability.

Treatments during pregnancy

Formulating for pregnant women demands real clinical precision. When every decision carries weight, you learn not to include anything without a reason. That standard was never abandoned.

Applied psychodermatology

The skin-nervous system connection as a real formulation framework. Stress is not a metaphor, it is biology. And that biology is at the center of every product decision.

Lesson 2 of 3

How we understand the skin

This is the conceptual foundation from which the entire Dafna's Ecosystem works. Understanding how we read the skin is what allows for better decision-making in the treatment room and helps explain to your client what is truly happening.

Skin is not a surface. It is a system.

The skin is an active organ in constant adaptation, simultaneously conditioned by biology, emotion, environment, and time. What we see on the surface at any given moment is a reflection of what the entire system is doing. There are no isolated symptoms: there are states of the system.

The skin as a living system

Microbiota, inflammation, vascularization, cell signaling, the nervous system, and the hormonal context interact constantly. Modifying one affects the others.

People first

Stress, hormones, sleep, environment, and life history are written on the skin before they are seen. Reading the tissue always begins with the person.

Support, don't correct

We do not correct the skin. We interpret it, accompany it, and guide it toward more stable responses, respecting its biological intelligence and adaptive capacity.

Results that are built

Biological transformation is progressive and cumulative. Radiance, texture, and firmness are consolidated with continued use and well-guided effort.

Why is the nervous system part of the formulation?

Nervous system activity directly influences skin behavior. Sustained stress and hormonal variations modulate inflammation, barrier function, reactivity, and the tissue's recovery capacity.

What cortisol does to the skin. Chronic cortisol activates inflammatory pathways, degrades type I and III collagen, alters the skin microbiome, and reduces the synthesis of barrier lipids. The visible result: progressive loss of firmness, increased reactivity, a tendency toward dark spots, and irregular texture, weeks before it is seen in the mirror.

Functional sensoriality. The texture, aroma, and temperature of a product are biological variables. A well-selected adaptogenic aroma activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis differently than one without a function.

Reading tissue from the nervous system. Before selecting a product: what level of stress has this person experienced, are they in a hormonal transitional phase, is their skin in reactive or receptive mode? The answers change the protocol, the intensity, and the sequence.

Lesson 3 of 3

The Nutrition Cream and the active ingredients

Our first product was no accident. It was the direct consequence of understanding the biology of sleep, the power of adaptogens, and the logic of a formulation that respects the tissue instead of imposing itself upon it.

Nutrition

The first product, and the origin of the system.

In 2015, when we formulated the Nutrition Night Cream, adaptogens were not a trend. We traveled to China to select Ginseng at its source, because the quality of the active ingredient is the quality of the result. Today, it has accumulated more than eight international awards.

Why a night cream

During sleep, cortisol levels drop, body temperature decreases, and the skin enters its phase of greatest receptivity and regeneration: collagen production accelerates, cells repair themselves, and the barrier is actively rebuilt.

La Nutrition was formulated for that exact moment. Not for nighttime as a routine convention, but for nighttime as biology: understanding the skin's circadian rhythm was a formulation decision.

Adaptogens, stress, and natural formulation

Adaptogens are plants capable of helping the body, and skin tissue, adapt to stress and restore balance. They are selected for their specific functional pathway: Ginseng for energy and firmness, Reishi for inflammatory regulation.

Stress at the core. Chronic cortisol degrades collagen, compromises the barrier, amplifies low-grade inflammation, and alters the microbiota. In 2015, while the industry was focused on hydration and conventional anti-aging, we were already formulating based on the biology of stress.

Natural and vegan. Ingredients of natural origin have a greater affinity with the skin's physiological mechanisms: they preserve the microbiota and respect the barrier function. Natural formulation does not limit efficacy; it is what allows for working on intensity, transformation, and tolerance simultaneously.

Neurocosmetics

The skin and the nervous system are in constant communication. We formulate directly based on that signal, before it appears in the mirror.

Clinical-grade adaptogens

Selected for their specific functional pathway and at validated concentrations, not for their name on the label.

Clinical essential oils

Active ingredients with documented biological function, chosen according to the needs of each person and each moment of the skin.

Green biotechnology

Plant exosomes, postbiotics, biomimetic peptides, and botanical stem cells acting on real physiological mechanisms.
